Eurico A. Cebolo

Eurico Augusto Cebolo was born the 28 of October 1938, in a small portuguese village of Trás-os-Montes called Coleja, situated close to the river Douro and a part of the Carrazeda de Ansiães county. Of humble origins, he graduated from Colégio João de Deus High School, in Porto, where he studied gratiously, due to his good learning ability.

By the time he was 16, he moved with his parents to Mozambique, where he began his music studies. To this art he has dedicated all his life. In 1962, he won the prize for "Best portuguese song in Contest"in the Hispano-Portuguese Festival , held in Aranda del Duero.

He composed several pieces, music and lyrics, performed by the Tipical and the Varities Orchestras of the Radio Club of Lourenço Marques. Later on he was awarded five more time in Spain and Mozambique. In 1975, while vacationing in Portugal, he was victim to a car accident, when a truck crashed against the car he was in, killing his cousin who was driving. For this reason he could not return to Mozambique. With a 50% loss of right hand movement his career as soloist-concertist musician ended thus, abruptly.

He is the author of the album "Magical Christmas", with 20 songs, whose orchestral score was recorded by him using exclusively sinthetisers. He published several romances and dozens of books dedicated to music teaching, most part of them in portuguese, english and french, with a great audience in our country and also abroad. He always enjoyed writing and, while in high school, he already drew cartoons which he sold to wealthier schoolmates.

Eurico Augusto Cebolo is the author the lyrics and music of the songs "Lisboa, Lisboa, Lisboa..." , winner of the Great March of Lisbon 1999 Contest and "Lisboa do Ano 2000" , winner of the Great March of Lisbon 2000 Contest.
